Macro & Cactus
Hi all, have been playing with the Macro lens and extension tube.
First image is of the subject, a smal Cactus plant to give an idea how smal the plant is. The second is the spines and the filament like tendrils round the base of the spines. Any comments re exposure, apertures, lighting etc would be most helpful. Nogbad |

Nothing like a challenge Nogbad.
The full size I like, aperture - exposure - lighting. The limited depth of field you have at this magnification has worked very well here. With the real close up you are unable to isolate part of it sufficiently and so it seems to be more an exercise in how much small detail you can show. Hence my starter ... nothing like a challenge. In this case I think the subject is very difficult to show of well at this level of magnification without resorting to Harrys multi points of focus stacking program. Don |

Hi Don.
Thanks for your comments. What is Harry's multi points of focus stacking program? Where can I get some info on this technique. Much obliged. Nogbad |

That second image is absolutely fantabulous. I have seen tremendous results using focus stacking and though I have mixed feelings about using it, I am amazed at the results of stacking done well. It certainly does offer a wonderful DOF which of course wouldn't be possible from a single image taken with a high mag lens. Thanks for sharing.......Alex
