Which dslr???
Hi everyone. I'm looking at buying a dslr around Xmas time and am torn between 2 cameras. The olympus e-520 or the Sony a350.
The main types of photography that I'm interested in are urban exploring, wildlife, landscapes and cars/motorsport. So I need a fairly diverse camera. Are there any other good ones to go for my budget is around £600 (preferably it would be a kit?) Thanks in advance. Ben |

I have been ummming and ahhhhhing about the 450d so it may well be an option I just need to have a play with one. As for nikon people have warned me off them cos of the lack of lenses due to i think it was the focusing motors in them?

Have a play with any camera you are thinking about. I do not know much about the ins and outs of the Nikon range but know that some of the bodies require the lens to have a built in motor for autofocus and not all Nikon or third party lenses do. A Nikon user will no doubt put you straight on this. The Olympus and Sony are fine makes with in body stabilization but the Olympus supposedly generates more 'noise' at ISO above 400 and they both are at a disadvantage when it comes to a wide choice of lenses for future purchase from both the manufacturer and again third party makers such as Sigma and Tamron. Just more thoughts for you.

You have two good choices for the money, that indicates you are doing you home work well.
Between the two mentioned, my vote is for Sony Alpha A350 because it has a larger sensor, is newer, you can use almost any older Minolta lenses on it that some come with very cheap price tag from ebay and likewise but with extremely fine features and sharpness that is expected from minolta, has mobile LCD which is quite a unique feature not seen even on most expensive D series of Canon or Nikon, and over all has a lot to offer given your needs. Sometimes at sales, Olympus comes with with better kid including two lens, etc etc but as such you don't go wrong with either choice and if money is not an issue then listen carefully to miketoll
