Sigma 200-500mm f2.8 APO EX DG
Are Sigma now having to "get real" with the pricing of this monster? Maybe they've shifted so few of them that they've had to revise the price... I'm sure I saw it for sale on Jessops website last winter (2010), for £25000. It's now £15000! Still a mortgage-level investment, but what a price drop. ...or maybe it's just to compensate for the buyer having to employ someone to lug it around.

It just shows what rob dogs Jessops are as Park Cameras have it for "only" £12,000 minus a penny.

I was simply commenting on the lens.
But, I must say on the whole I find Jessops expensive and the staff are particularly bad when it comes to advice/product knowledge - I was once quote £178 for a simple £14 Nikon remote! Jessops, as I remember has been discussed at length in another thread some time ago.

It is true that some items they sell are "unusually" high-priced, but compared to many other outlets, they're not that bad. One thing about their business model I really like, is the finance options they offer - six months interest-free in most cases. Unbeatable, if like me, you're on a very limited budget, but have a taste for expensive kit.
I must be really lucky where the staff are concerned - those in the Buchanan Galleries store in Glasgow (my nearest) seem very knowledgeable indeed, and any time I've asked someone a question that was out of their reach, I've been handed over to someone who did know. I guess this sort of thing will vary wildly from store to store. |
