Thumbs up Tamron Lens?

I have just been offered a Tamron LD Di 18-250 Aspherical lens for my Canon 40D.
Has anybody had any experience of this lens and its picture quality. I would appreciate any feedback before I buy this lens.
Best regards
Richard.

Here is a review by Photozone which are respected for their work.

Looks pretty good for a travel lens ( a lens solution ) of course suffers the usual complaints for a lens with such a large zoom range
