Default November Competition Theme : Space and Time

Our November competition shall be themed 'Space and Time' Please upload your photos to the competition entries category in the gallery.

The competition will be open until November 30th. At the end of November entries will go into a poll for voting for two weeks when a winner will be announced and transferred into the competition winners category. At the end of this year all competition winners will be entered into a poll for the photo of the year contest, held in January 2008.

One entry per member, photo must have been taken by a member but there is no time restriction on when the photo was taken.

Photos that have been entered in our gallery longer than 31 days shall not allowed.

In the event of an overwhelming number of entries Moderators and Admin will decide on a final short list, in this event any Moderators or Admin who entered the competition shall remove their own entry.

Space
  • the unlimited expanse in which everything is located; "they tested his ability to locate objects in space"; "the boundless regions of the infinite"
  • an empty area (usually bounded in some way between things); "the architect left space in front of the building"; "they stopped at an open space in the jungle"; "the space between his teeth"
  • an area reserved for some particular purpose; "the laboratory's floor space"
  • a blank character used to separate successive words in writing or printing; "he said the space is the most important character in the alphabet"
  • distance: the interval between two times; "the distance from birth to death"; "it all happened in the space of 10 minutes"
  • a blank area; "write your name in the space provided"
  • one of the areas between or below or above the lines of a musical staff; "the spaces are the notes F-A-C-E"
  • quad: (printing) a block of type without a raised letter; used for spacing between words
  • place at intervals; "Space the interviews so that you have some time between the different candidates"

Time
  • an instance or single occasion for some event; "this time he succeeded"; "he called four times"; "he could do ten at a clip"
  • an indefinite period (usually marked by specific attributes or activities); "he waited a long time"; "the time of year for planting"; "he was a great actor is his time"
  • a period of time considered as a resource under your control and sufficient to accomplish something; "take time to smell the roses"; "I didn't have time to finish"; "it took more than half my time"
  • a suitable moment; "it is time to go"
  • the continuum of experience in which events pass from the future through the present to the past
  • clock time: the time as given by a clock; "do you know what time it is?"; "the time is 10 o'clock"
  • clock: measure the time or duration of an event or action or the person who performs an action in a certain period of time; "he clocked the runners"
  • fourth dimension: the fourth coordinate that is required (along with three spatial dimensions) to specify a physical event
  • assign a time for an activity or event; "The candidate carefully timed his appearance at the disaster scene"
  • a person's experience on a particular occasion; "he had a time holding back the tears"; "they had a good time together"
  • set the speed, duration, or execution of; "we time the process to manufacture our cars very precisely"
  • meter: rhythm as given by division into parts of equal duration
  • regulate or set the time of; "time the clock"
  • prison term: the period of time a prisoner is imprisoned; "he served a prison term of 15 months"; "his sentence was 5 to 10 years"; "he is doing time in the county jail"
  • adjust so that a force is applied and an action occurs at the desired time; "The good player times his swing so as to hit the ball squarely"

Any ideas for this theme ,please.Space,as in sky,stars etc,time as in clocks,you usually submit a list which shows the various meanings,Stephen,this one looks difficult.

Yes Christine I cannot think of anything I've got that fit's the bill, so I'll have to go out and shoot specifically for this comp. Be nice to have some ideas

I just looked at www.flickr.com for some inspiration and I saw nice think called "Time, Space and a Salmon of Doubt" by Lamerie and it looks this month it will be a heavy digital task. Looking forward to seeing the results.

Thank you Christine. I was running short of time yesterday evening orgaising the voting poll for Autumn competition also. I have just ammended the thread starter with the normal words of inspiration.

Hope they inpsire!

thanks,Stephen.I guess the space factor rules out any subjects for myself,but I can think of a couple of possibilities,different,thats for sure.Should be interesting to see the entries.I guess,will everyone hold off posting an entry,waiting to see ideas from other members.will definitely suit the very technical minded.I can envisage lots of moon shots.
