All great macro shots hugh, Nice composition, good colour not over sharpened. The one I favour the best is the 4th one it has more depth with the stem showing. Well done.

Another vote for the 4th image. Why? Because it has more impact. The composition is much better, the tighter crop and angle used gives an "in your face" picture. The others, the flower gets a bit lost, the background is distracting for me.

Hi
Alex paul, Christine Iwancz, Dan, Ian, Duncan, thank you for encouragement greatly appreciate, but do you think the blurred background on 031 jpg would be better for shot 4 Hugh Ps Hi dan what hav you been up to, photograph I hope |

Yes I agree about the background but it is not always possible to get the ideal background, so you have to make do. If you can't get a reasonable backdrop edit in your program and slighlty blur out the background.
On your photo I used the magic wand, being careful I didn't get the stem I then gave the background 2.6 Gaussian Blur not enough to make it look false but just enough. What do you think
