Editing in computer programs with laptops.
Anyone who uses a Laptop as their editing station. what ever the program you use, do u find the touch pad to be more effective than a mouse?
and for oldskool PC users, what would u prefer? edit: mouse for me!! Jamie Last edited by jamieZ740; 13-12-06 at 00:47. |

Touch pad is easier to use but at the end of the day my finger tip gets very sensitive / irritated. Additionally being a real laptop user, I am getting a burn on my thigh every now and then due to laptops heat. My main excuse for not using the desktop is that my OS on it is corrupted and haven't got time...to fix it yet, then my other desktop is mac and it make me very slow to do anything on that even after some useful helps from Chris. My son off course won't let me get close to his pc that is in serious Myspace use 24/7.

Can't get used to touchpad no matter how I try, but would appreciate a more sensitive mouse for those delicate editing jobs.

I use the laptop when away from home, but dislike using it for photo editing.
As I find the touchpad very difficult to use I carry a small USB mouse in the laptop bag. This mouse is an optical one and very easy and accurate in use. Harry |

Maybe I've got a dodgy usb mouse that keeps wandering, the touchpad doesnt. Got to be the touchpad for me for accurate editing.

I saw one advertised on QVC but bought it a tenner cheaper in PCW! Got it home, installed it & found it virtually impossible to use. I passed it on to a friend whom I consider more computer orientated than me & he found it the same as me. You've obviously mastered it, is it just a matter of persevering? Al. |

I mostly use the laptop but when possible hook it up to my 19" desktop monitor. A Microsoft laser mouse is fine for most editing but for the really detailed work a tablet wins hands down.
