Grey Scale Test
First I made a B and W Work Copy image of my Grey Scale Cards.
Then I Scanned my VALUE V (Roman 5) for my highest and lowest RGB Values. This gave me an average of R G B Value of 108 I also scanned Value 12 on the lower B and W Scale and got the same Value Range. This R G B Value found above is then applied to my Boxes in my Curves Tool. My White Balance is the mid point at 5750 for this image. My image of the person - I used these Values on it.

Here is a variation on the Curves Thread.
First off - I make a PNG work file at 100 dpi. Next I open my CURVES TOOL and set FACTORY DEFAULTS Then I ENLARGE MY IMAGE OF THE 20 + Grey Patch Card to fill the frame. At the Bottom of the Curves Tool, I click the Mid Grey (Middle) Box Then I set to work clicking the Values 8, 9 and 10 (on the 20+ Grey patch Strip) to bring in the LOOK I want in the image. Usually I find Value 9 is the right one as it gives a RGB Value approx. 127 or 128. When finished I crop to desired image size. My images show an example of this idea.
