Default Graphic design on WPF. Acceptable or not?

Interesting valid response to my 'Windows' image posted in the gallery:

"Steve 2005":
I may be being a bit controversial but is this graphic design or photography? I've always had a problem will these images being entered as photography. I don't wish to offend but I was just wondering what you response would be to that statement?

My response:
Thanks Steve; hey seriously & sincerely, everyone's entitled to an opinion & it's a valid point. My view is that I'm creating an image from modern day photographic equipment, that being a computer & imaging software, in these cases I'm just bypassing the camera. Part of a software learning curve as I see it which may at some point also maximise a camera created image that I may produce. Previously in this original image post I've commented that 'I know it's an acquired taste' in reference to these openly described 'images' rather than 'photographs'.

Probably worth starting it's own debatable thread which I'll do, & if the general opinion agrees with you I'll comply & stop posting such images.

Thanks for being frank yet polite with your comment..

Regards,

Al.

Well; basically: are these type of images acceptable on WPF?

Al.

Agree with you 100%, Al. Well put.

As an aside, Steve put his point well, but in a polite way: just how comments should be made.

Sorry Al I didn't see this thread until I'd made this comment under the image thread.

Al

I don't wish to stop you or others uploading these images but possibly feel that another category is added to reflect this type of image/composition.
I can see from the comments that plenty of people do like them and I don't feel that because I don't see them as photography that this should stop there inclusion.

Cheers
Steve

I say dont stop posting. For me its the image not how it was made that matters.
Like bird photography there may be better forums if thats all you do. However that should not stop people posting bird photos.
So digital art acceptable on a photography forum? I think so.

It does to my mind. No problem with these images being posted at all - I dont think they are 'photography' as such, but are most definately 'digital art', and as such have a place here. Keep on posting!

The images are certainly not photography in the classic sense but Trena has it so keep posting under "Manipulated Images & Digital Art".
