Default POTW Sunday 12th May 2013

Sun, Sea and Shadows by Mike 7358

There were several really good images this week, but having just purchased a copy of Genesis by Sebastiao Salgado, my eye is tuned to monotone at the moment, so this image is the one that stuck in my mind. Accepted wisdom would have composed to make the image symmetrical, and probably portrait format too. I like the fact that Mike chose to be different, and allowed space for the waves to wash into. The depth of field is very well chosen, focus fading out nicely as you progress further into the image, and the monotone treatment with crisp blacks and bright whites is very well done.

Well done Mike. Still reckon it needs a slight left rotation though.
