Hi kev,
use the camera in 'P' mode untill you get used to using it. It should cope with most situations. best thing to do is to experiment with differet settings.

How new to photography are you?

A useful book if you have no clue about your SLR is "The Canon EOS 300D Digital Camera - All you need to know" it's essentially the instruction manual distilled and clarified bor complete beginners.

ISBN 0-321-30490-X it's by Stephen Gregory. £4.99

Cheers, Rob.

Still learning but getting better,I am now looking for a good price on a zoom lense as I only have 18-55 which I find good for landscapes but I struggle to get close enough for most other shots.
