Canon SX30iS
My Canon SX30iS appears to have some dirt on its sensor, which can be seen on a computer screen and on prints. As it's not a DSLR I can't remove the lens to clean it. Has anyone got any ideas about getting this rectified? I don't want to spend unnecessary amounts of cash sending it somewhere without a proper estimate in case it's going to be expensive to repair. I'm at a loss as to where this dirt came from-it just appeared!

Is it not a fault with the card you have in it? Try a different one .... might be as simple as that!

No I've already tried this. I seem to have "cured" the problem by hitting the side of the camera with the flat of my hand-a test shot of a blank wall doesn't show the mark any more.Probably not the recommended cure but it seems to have worked!

Treat yourself to something worth £65 ..... the minimum price of a repair!!
My son has the happy knack of blowing into games consoles etc that are causing problems and it always works.

I've cured non-functioning electronics before by putting them for an hour in the freezer and it usually works but I didn't think that would remove dirt! Having said this, I tried the freezer job with the wife's Samsung WB600 which switches off at almost full zoom extent-didn't work-I can't even get the clock to return to zero (battery out, obviously) and they normally do this after this sort of time.
Now what can I spend £65.00 on? Dave Dave |

Already sorted! Went for a Panasonic Lumix TZ18 and I'm quite impressed with the results.
