Has anybody used Dx0 Pro Optic V4
Has anybody played with or is using D x 0 Pro Optics software for image processing. I have downloaded a 21 day demo version and from my first impressions it seems quite neat.
I am interested in other users thoughts as I am tempted to buy it.

I tried it about a year ago and I was attracted to its distortion correction. I dont remember having much success so I dumped the idea.
Thanks for the reminder I might give it another try.

I had a visit to Dxo but their website states no support for D2Hs body as this is my main knock about camera now its a shame I cannot take advantage of their lens distortion correction as it looks really interesting.
Does this software work with JPEG's, if so can lens correction be employed?

Hi
I do have DXO Optics but haven't used it very much. The distortion correction is quite cool but when it comes down to it I have found that not many photos actually need it. The distortion, even when there is not noticable except when taking wide angle shots. I suspect that the program is much better than I have yet had time to find out. I have just remembered that it is quite good at getting rid of vignetting (e.g. in astrophotography where it is more critical). Stephen, Yes it does work with jpg as well as raw. Dave |

Just downloaded it and ran a few wide-angled RAW shots through it (I use my 12-24 a lot) and was very impressed with the 'keystoning' under the geometry section something that would come in very handy as I shoot a lot of architectural stuff. Whether the 100 quid is worth it for that particular module is debatable; the rest is most likely for PS freaks daily routine.

Played with this for a couple of days mainly using the "Keystoning" tool. What I didn’t like was that the "Keystoning" cuts of the top 10% - 15% of the image when correcting verticals (maybe the images I used were too distorted to start with) also I would have preferred it if there had been a grid you could overlay on the image to align verticals and horizontals against. (Maybe there is. I couldn’t find one).
For most of the other functions I have other software which I prefer to use. I also didn’t like the fact that when you edit an image the thumb nail doesn’t show the changes, and I also didn’t like having to save the project before you could process the images. Would I buy it! No. But I’m sure some people would love it. On a positive note it looks awesome. |

LOL - I've still not made my mind up yet - still 8 days of Demo left. I've not played with the Optic correction yet but what struck me about it was it made a decent job of batch processing in automatic mode. I've being playing with expert mode recently. I feel it does a better job of tweaking tonal range than PS.

I've played with the demo but didn't think it was worth spending money on.
