Thanks Guys - a close run thing
Ups & Downs Up - Hellebore by Nigel G - I liked this and a less conventional approach to colour popping. For me I'd have liked to have seen the definition/selection between the popped flower and the background to have been sharper/more clearly defined. Down - Yellow Peril by Graham - Again I liked this but for me it was a bit too busy with the background buildings drawing the eye too much. I'd maybe have tried a crop to include the litter bin front left, across between the Boots & DP sign & to just inclde the Cafe west sign on the right |

Behind The Scenes
Knowing my penchant for multi layered images, Nigel assumed that all the rose leaves had been Photoshopped in afterwards but actually they were done in camera with two helpers throwing handfuls of silk rose petals while I tried to time pressing the button - it only took 4 goes to get that shot. Then it was just a matter of using colour range to create the selection and adding a black & white layer - simples |

Well done Clive - you're also my down. On closer examination the petals on the bed clearly aren't a separate layer but most of the ones in the air lack sharpness round the edges which is what made ne originally think this was another of your clever compositions.
Up is Coloured Sentinel - your own comment "almost fog coloured" I think indicates the lack of contrast and maybe therefore impact in the mono selections. I think I would also have cropped so the lighthouse was a bit more to the left bringing the coloured top piece onto the upper right third intersection.

Well done Clive, as you are my 'up' let me combine my congrats with my comments. Not at all critical just complimentary. I was a first class production. I confess to assuming that the petals were an add-on so now I'm doubly impressed that they were taken as you described.
My down is DigiDiva. Your shot didn't deserve to get no votes, if it's any consolation it was on my short list, but the text put me off - it's only a personal thing. Nicely taken and processed with awesome sharpness it was really a very good entry. Graham
