Question for the group

I have a question for everybody. As a lot of us on the POTW Panel know that part of the board is a very tough choice. I know for me it is. I would like to step things up a little.

What I am thinking if there are others that are interested is a Monthly theme contest. We would run from the 1st of the Month till the 25th of each month. From the 25th of each till the 30th of each month there would be voting on who was able to contribute the best photo of that Month's Theme. The winner of the month would choose the Theme for the following month.

For Example: In February of 2018 the Theme is Portrait Photography. The only photos that could be submitted are photos that were shot between the 1st of February and the 25th of February. Voting would run between the 26th and the End of the Month. The winner would be the person with the most votes. The winner of the Monthly Theme will choose the next Month's Theme.

This is just a thought. Anybody have any comments or ideas?

Is this not re-inventing the monthly/fortnightly challenge ? The problem with that was not all themes were possible for various reason or interesting enough to take up the challenge. e.g Portrait I would love to have a go but don't have a subject willing to be photographed or Street Photography I live in a rural district with a small towns miles away.

Now I should be retired but I'm working harder than before and finding less time for photography. So if the weather or light is bad for the few hours a week I have available it's another missed opportunity.

I thought it might be Rob and it was just a thought. And I really understand the not having time and with the lighting wrong. I went through that this past year with work and my health. I just don't want to the board go the way a few that I have been around is all.

So you mean that if a person winning would choose Landscape there would be only landscape photos uploaded for the rest of month?

No each month would have its own thread and the pictures for that thread would lets say portraits if the monthly contest is Portraits.
