Anyone used an Olympus SZ-10 18x superzoom?
Hi,
I just won a competition with one of my images, and one of the prizes is an olympus camera. I haven't got it yet, but it looks to be the SZ10. I looked at the reviews on Google, but have not yet found any CUSTOMER reviews...they all seem to be the marketing blurb. The camera was launched in Feb 2011, and all the reviews I have found thus far date from then, or before. I am interested to find out what people think of the camera, from the point of view of a dSLR user, perhaps. I have a Canon 400d, and a few old lenses...is the Olympus going to find a niche in my kit? Any actual user experiences are welcome. Cheers |

Well, I have used one now...Took the Olympus SZ10 camera I won on holiday, left the Canon at home.
Here are a couple of shots from the Olympus...what do you think? |

Looks good to me. It will not be so good in poor light due to the small sensor but good for a walkabout camera.

Photos from your SZ10 also look fine to me. Think its done a good job on No.4 (wasp?). Looks ok for when you don't want to take your Canon.

Number 4 is a hoverfly.
I think it did well...I have used it on a wasp today, which I tempted with a melon rind...will process those tonight and see how they are. : Cheers |

Thought it was some sort of fake/pretending to be a wasp. Not good on nature. Look forward to seeing real wasp photos, hope they work. What do you think of your Olympus SZ10?

It's growing on me.
I can see the limitations, and don't think I will give up the canon anytime soon. Here's a wasp with the Olympus... |
