Album Design...dpi?
I'm a Designer (not a photograher) and wondered if someone would be kind enough to help me out with a query...
I have been provided with images taken by a professional photograper (jpeg format) some of the images are W:198.12cm x H:132.08cm 72 pixel/inch and some are W:39.79xm x H:26.23cm 300 pixel/inch. Why would this be done? Imaged used in the album need to be a minimum of 300dpi and I am worrying that the resoution of the 72dpi images will be way too poor for the A3 album the clients have chosen. Am I just missing something really simple? I do have those days :-) Thanks in advance. |

Any designer using images should at least get their head around the basics of print resolution and print size. It has nothing to do with photography.
A 198.12cm x 132.08cm @ 72 pixels per inch will be 47.55cm x 31.7cm if printed at 300 dpi. Simple.
