Photographing the weather
As you all know I have been looking to broaded my photographic horizons and try to take photographs sometimes that dont have birds in them
I have been looking at landscapes but quite frankly they have never inspired me. What I do love though, being a physical geography student of days gone by is the ruggardness of the landscape and especailly how light and the weather takes it toll. Would love to start taking photos that show all our weathers at its finest. What do you reckon would be the best lens to use bearing in mind that I would love to capture severe weather conditions when light is not always at its best?

Interesting topic. I've tried to take snow storms/blizzards, using diigital and it just looks gray. I hope someone has some suggestions.

I love landscapes the more dramatic the better. I too like the brooding sky's and find it hard to get decent images in low light.
I'm sure someone will give us some tips and examples. Nogbad |

One of the problems I encounter is where to put the sun when taking sunset/sunrise shots.Does one have the sun to one side so that glare is not going directly into the lens?.I like to follow the sun shafts across the water, but reflections can make this tricky.

KC Foggin's great shot of a Sun Dog and my lucky spot of an Iridescent Cloud (both in the gallery) have made me determined to grab more photos of atmospheric phenomena. Or that could just be an excuse to go out on nice, sunny days!
