Default Time for a new sub-forum?

A little while ago it was suggested, by Daedal I think, that I may ask the mods for a new category in the gallery for astronomy photos. At the time I didn't think there would be much interest as it is rather specialised and also there are suitable astrophotography forums elswhere. However, recently there has been a dramatic increase in Moon pictures (especially the eclipse) and I now wonder whether if it would be appropriate to have a separate discussion forum (just look at the Photographing the Moon thread) as well as a gallery section. I am still inclined to think that astrophotography is too specialised but how about one called "Night Photography" which would also encompass threads like the Brown Skies thread etc

What does anyone think?

Is it a possibility to be considered?

Dave

'Night Photography' seems a good idea: there have been quite a number of interesting night shots (Blackmarlin's and Lee's, for instance). Could even be called 'Low Light Photography'.

I would be happy with that.

Dave and Mike, I have taken on board your suggestion and I have had a chat with admin and at the present there still isn't that much interest apart from the eclipse the other night which was an exception. We will keep your thoughts in mind though for the future if we see any dramatic increase in postings.

Thanks Christine,

I also don't think there is enough following on purely astrophotography but thought that if it was widened to Night time or low light photography there would be enough of a case. Anyway, the thought has been sown.

Thanks

Dave

I would definately go with the idea of a "night photography" category. Why not try this as a theme for a future competition as well.
